Good Times in Hilton Head Island

Photo: Finally a sunny day
We have been going to Hilton Island in South Carolina for family vacations over 40 years now.  Though it’s easy to get jaded and say “Oh Hilton Head is boring, we’ve been coming so long, there’s nothing new left to do….” I sat down this morning to do my homework to see if we have possibly missed any new things to do.  Ummmmmmm. YUP, can’t say I’ve done all of these!!! I thought I’d share some things that are family friendly. Rated top 10 family beaches in America, Hilton Head is packed with things to do such as: The Coastal Discovery Museum, Pirates Island, The Sandbox, Zipline Hilton Head, and The Arts Center of Coastal Carolina~ to name a few. The Island is swamped with golf courses, most of them designed by famous golfers! Over 20 are located on the island,  some of these are: Robbers Row, Arthur Hills, Heron Point, the May River Golf Club…’s endless!!! The Sea Pines Resort is my favorite because it’s like a big ocean neighborhood where the palms and shrubbery are all so established and thick.  (So are the gators that lurk in the ponds so keep your poodles and your peeps close by.)  If you need a camp for the peeps, the island is loaded! Check out: Lawton Stables Summer camp, Island Cardio Kids Camp or the International Junior Golf Academy.  If I typed all the shopping centers, I would walk away with carpal tunnel syndrome but to name a few: Beach Market, Coligny Plaza, Main Street Village, mall at Shelter Cove, Pineland Station, Tanger Outlet Center, and Village at Wexford. Now after doing a lil investigating for this blog post, I’ve discovered maybe I haven’t seen it and done it all….. I hope you’ve been sticking to your diet because Hilton Head is crammed full of restaurants. I’m spoiled to good food so I will name my favorites: Old Oyster factory (and no, I don’t eat them, there’s plenty on the menu for non oyster eaters), Red Fish (Sea Bass here is YUM!), Alexanders, Chart House, (didn’t even know Hilton Head had one, it’s great in Savannah), The Smoakhouse, Skillets Grill, Topside Waterfront Grill, Sea Bass Grill and Hudsons. Currently, as we speak, Lord Kind and Gentle and his entire crowd are in Hilton Head relaxing on the beach and taking dips in the pool.  After this blog post, it makes a girl wanta pack up the peeps and join them :)
